About Janet

Meet Janet Shephard-Stone, a passionate individual with a deep love for netball. Her journey with this sport began during her school years, where she not only played but also held the prestigious position of team captain. Even as she joined the Army, her dedication to netball never wavered, and she continued to play the beloved sport.

Janet's life led her to Portugal, where she now resides and works. However, she couldn't stay away from netball for long. In Portugal, she co-founded the Leoas Netball Sotavento Club, taking on roles as a trainee umpire, coach, and vice president. She also contributes actively to the netball community in Portugal, holding the position of Vice President for Netball Portugal and using her first aid skills to benefit her club.

Beyond her sporting passion, Janet has dedicated over two decades of her professional life to education. She began in Further Education, where she had the privilege of shaping the minds of aspiring teachers, social workers, and students studying psychology and sociology. This role brought her immense fulfillment, and she had the honor of imparting knowledge at esteemed institutions like Wolverhampton and Staffordshire University.

Even after moving to Portugal, Janet's passion for teaching persisted. She adapted to the changing times by embracing online teaching and occasionally traveled back to the UK to deliver impactful lectures in person, nurturing her connection with students.

However, change came knocking with Brexit, leading Janet to reevaluate her path. Embracing the challenge, she ventured into the dynamic world of Real Estate. Over the last five years, she has thrived in this new domain, showcasing her adaptability and embracing fresh opportunities.

Throughout her diverse career, the pursuit of education and personal growth has remained at the core of Janet's endeavors. Whether it's nurturing minds in the classroom or venturing into new horizons in Real Estate, her desire to make a positive impact and facilitate growth has been her guiding force.

Looking forward, Janet is excited about the adventures that await her as she continues to evolve professionally. Each new path she chooses will undoubtedly present opportunities to make a meaningful difference and contribute to the betterment of those around her. In 2022, she returned to her beloved netball, currently serving as the co-founder and vice president of the Leoas Netball Sotavento Club and Vice President of Netball Portugal.
